GV_DRLT data set is the official data set of Lithuanian place names (source: Order of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania No. 3D-488 "On Approval of the List of State Spatial Data Sets and Maps" https://www.e-tar.lt/portal/lt/legalAct/0192de90713411e7827cd63159af616c/yUWmjtuplP). The GV_DRLT dataset contains information on the location of geographical features on the map and the name of those features (spelling of the name, grammatical information, interpretation of the origin of the place name).

The data set was created using data from the following data providers:

• Institute of Lithuanian language;
• State Service for Protected Areas under the Ministry of Environment;
• Department of Cultural Heritage;
• Lithuanian road administration under the ministry of transport and communications;
• National Land Service under the Ministry of Agriculture;
• Council for the Safeguarding of Ethnic Culture;
• Lithuanian geological survey under the Ministry of Environment;
• Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Lithuanian SSR (To supplement GV_DRLT in 1940-1990. places and names of abolished settlements);
• geoportal.lt users;
• Instytut badan spraw narodowosciowych (Poland).
